Pesto Orrecchiette with Sausage and Broccoli

This recipe was in my Hello Fresh box this week.  It is so easy and simple that my sweetheart made it with no problems at all.  It serves two and is ready in about 30 minutes.  If you would like to jazz it up even more you could add some sundried tomatoes, mushrooms and garlic.

6 0z. broccoli florettes
9 oz. italian chicken sausage
1 pinch to 1 t. chili flakes
1/4 c. parmesan cheese
1/4 c. pesto
 6 oz. orrecchiette
Fill a large sauce pan with salted water.  Bring water to boil and add orrecchiete.  Cook for 11 minutes.  Reserve 1/4 c. of the pasta water.  Drain remainder of water off the orrecchiette.

In a large saucepan heat a sprinkling of olive oil.  Add the broccoli and cook 5-7 minutes.  Remove from pan.  Remove sausage from casing and add to saucepan.  Brown until not longer pink.  Add chili flakes to taste.  Add reserved pasta water to pan with sausage, then pesto and cooked pasta.  Stir in cheese.
