InstaPot Pressue Cooker Canadian Yellow Split Pea Soup


This is a nice soup for the Instapot.  If you want more meat flavor you can add some diced ham cubes, cooked bacon or a ham hock.  It is ready in 30 minutes so it is a great recipe to have for when you want to put together something warm and filling in a little amount of time.
 In your Instapot saute:

  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
Add the following ingredients and cook for 30 minutes. You can release the pressure manually after this time.
  • 1 cup dried yellow split peas
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt + pepper to taste

  • 1/2 cup diced carrot
I like to serve split pea soup with toasted bread squares on top...try it!
